Description:

Responsibilities for direct/indirect patient care Manages own patient workload To identify patient needs through holistic assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation of care plans Develops and maintains physical clinical skills and competencies e.g. syringe drivers / venepuncture, compression bandaging, catheterisation Maintains accurate and contemporaneous patient records and service documentation Ensures security of patient information Maintains patient confidentiality and works within the confines of Data Protection Demonstrates professional conduct as defined by the NMC code of conduct, preserving patients rights and promoting mutual respect amongst colleagues To take responsible care for health and safety of self and other colleagues observing relevant policies and practice within the confines of health and safety guidance Report any work related risks according to relevant policies and procedures Cooperates with risk control measures. Participates in clinical audit to monitor the impact of the service on quality care and cost effectiveness Promote development and maintenance of quality standards of clinical care Have an understanding of national, organisational and professional developments Participates in staff development review Adheres to NMC Code of conduct Maintain own professional development ensuring fit for practice Attends mandatory training and other relevant training as identified by the organisation Participates in the professional development of pre and post registration students / HCAs and others as required At act as a supervisor, mentor or preceptor as identified Engage in link nurse activity, cascading knowledge to other team members Implement changes to practice identified from national and local objectives Supply information to inform service provision Identify, assess and manage risk Responsible for the safe and effective use of equipment and other resources Contributes towards ensuring medical / nursing equipment is maintained in good working order Contributes to the effective use of available resources Contribute to the selection and recruitment of junior staff Have an awareness of Trust policies and procedures that affects the management of staff Effectively use IT support systems to enhance direct and indirect care delivery Use electronic patient record Participates in clinical audit by providing statistical or other information required in order to monitor the impact of service on quality of care / cost effectiveness Contribute towards identifying issues for clinical audit Have an awareness of relevant research finding
