Description:

For over 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services to the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens, and currently offers 160-plus programs and services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those struggling with mental illness.
Older Adult Centers promote an active life of seniors. The centers aim to assist them to preserve their independence and health by offering various range of activities and services such as serving breakfast, lunch, health screenings, social services, educational workshops, class exercises, discussion groups, games, art classes, lectures, workshops, organized outings, and special events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Level Social Worker or a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling or related field required OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related field with at least 3 years of intensive experience in health care setting
  • Able to travel to multiple locations within the five boroughs as needed.
  • Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Outreach to community services, agencies and hospitals to bring wellness activities to assigned Older Adult Centers for clients
  • Assist the programs’ teams in assessing and increasing wellness programs, health screenings and activities at Older Adults Centers
  • Participate in on-going outreach to the community to advertise the full array of diverse activities at Older Adult Centers
  • Creatively develop, design, and plan new wellness curriculum, ideas, or events. Schedule events based on availability of locations, equipment, presenters and target audienc
