Description:

Overview:
Works under the direct supervision of the Shift Supervisor/Lieutenant or in his/her absence, the Chief of Police. Assists the Lieutenant in supervising assigned squad personnel to ensure that all required and assigned duties responsibilities are accomplished. Acts as the team leader in the absence of the Shift Supervisor to ensure that all required and assigned duties/responsibilities are accomplished. Enforces NC State Laws as appropriate and in accordance to NC General Statues on company property. Enforces company policies procedures, laws, regulations, and directives as appropriate for the position. Performs activities to ensure the safety and security of patients, visitors, employees, Medical Staff, and Novant Health property. Develops training schedules and is the shift’s assigned Field Training Officer. Must have a working knowledge of the RMS Police reporting program. Regularly performs the duties of a Company Police Officer and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years in a Law Enforcement administrative and / or operational capacity required.
  • Licensure/Certification:
  • Company Police Agency: Sworn position IAW NC General Statutes Chapter 74E. Must be eligible and obtain certification as Company Policy Officer within (1) year from hire date, required.
  • American Heart Association HS (Heart Saver), required.
  • NC Basic Law Enforcement Training Certification is required if not sworn officer at the time of hire, required.
  • Heartsaver/AED, required.
  • Must have completed a NC Training &Standards Field Training Officer program or attend within 6 months of hire, required.
  • Must hold a Supervisor level certification from IAHSS or become certified within 6 months of hire, required.
  • Sworn position IAW NC General Statutes Chapter 74E, required.
  • Valid NC driver’s license, required.
  • CPR and AED, required.
  • Additional Skills (required):
  • Company Police Agency: Sworn position IAW NC General Statutes Chapter 74E.
  • Must be eligible and obtain certification as Company Policy Officer within (1) year from hire date.
  • American Heart Association BLS required within 90 days of hire.
  • NC Basic Law Enforcement Training Certification is required if not sworn officer at the time of hire.
  • Must have completed a NC Training & Standards Field Training Officer program or attend within 6 months of hire.
  • Must hold a Supervisor level certification from IAHSS or become certified within 6 months of hire.
  • Sworn position IAW NC General Statutes Chapter 74E
  • Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) graduate or possesses a current probationary or general certification required.
