Description:
Red River is seeking a Compensation Lead to join our Total Rewards and HR Operations team. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of compensation best practices. They possess exceptional analytical skills and are comfortable working with ambiguity and making informed decisions with limited data. They possess a proactive mindset, actively seeking out information and resources to fill knowledge gaps. Additionally, they are effective communicators who can build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
The Compensation Lead would own our compensation and incentive programs. They would be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive programs that align with Red River’s strategic objectives and ensure compliance with Federal, state, and local laws.
This is an in-person role based in our Chantilly office, offering a flexible work arrangement with 2 days of remote work per week following an orientation period.
Primary Position Tasks:
- Maintain and enhance compensation structure, including conducting job evaluations, developing job descriptions, and ensuring compliance with all relevant compensation laws and regulations.
- Provide advice and guidance to HR Business Partners, leaders and managers on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
- Partner with internal teams to streamline and enhance compensation programs by providing compensation expertise, best practices, recommendations, and data-driven analysis.
- Design and implement effective incentive programs aligned with Red River’s strategic goals, collaborating with HR Business Partners, Finance, and leadership to understand business needs and develop tailored solutions.
- Conduct regular market analysis to benchmark against market data and identify trends, potential issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers related to our compensation programs.
- Lead and manage compensation-related projects, such as our annual merit increase process, compensation plan and incentive program updates or implementation.
- Develops and executes communication plans to support project efforts.
- Fosters and maintains good relationships with Finance and HR colleagues to ensure that processes are maintained and supported.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, or a related field.
- 2 - 5 years of compensation experience with a strong understanding of compensation principles, practices, and trends.
- Proficiency in using compensation software and data analysis tools.
- Knowledge of Federal, state, and local laws and regulations as they apply to base compensation and incentive compensation programs.
Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:
- Experience with complex compensation structures and incentive programs, including commission and bonus plans.
- Certified compensation professional credentials
