We are looking for a Competence Lead, Data Science who is passionate about coaching and people leadership.
In this role, you will lead the development of your competence team´s Data Science skills, both at the team and individual levels. You will define standards and work methods and support your team members with professional challenges. You will facilitate learning, development and knowledge sharing both within and between areas of expertise in collaboration with other Competence Leads.
You will also be responsible for employee-related matters such as recruiting new talents. Typically, the Competence Lead role takes up to 50% of your working time. In addition to leadership responsibilities the expectation is that the chosen person would do Data Science -related work as a team member in one of the new multi-disciplinary teams or other business domains.
The leadership of functional goals and daily operations primarily falls under the responsibility of the multi-disciplinary team leaders, but you will support them in achieving the goals and solving the toughest challenges.

Desired skills:

  • Excellent people and collaboration skills, ambition, and a desire to coach, guide, support and develop people’s skills. Prior team lead experience an asset
  • A broad understanding of data science, advanced analytics, AI/machine learning methods and their fundamentals, with several years of experience in applying these methods to real world data
  • A degree in a quantitative field (e.g. machine learning, statistics, quantitative social science, operations research, bioinformatics, economics, computer science, mathematics, physics)
  • Understanding of the media and subscription business and its dynamics, from data/process levels to business outcomes would be an asset
  • Strong practical experience with modern analytics and data science tools and environments (e.g. Databricks, R, Python, SQL, GCP, AWS, Snowflake)
  • We are an international team so fluent English language is required as well as permanent work permit in Finland
