COMPLIANCE ANALYST

Location | Work Environment:
Toronto / Hybrid
(This role will be based in Toronto, with a combination of time working directly from the Toronto office and the flexibility of working from a home office environment on selected days.)

OVERVIEW

Canada Guaranty is currently seeking a Compliance Analyst to join our growing compliance team in Toronto. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Compliance & Governance, the successful candidate will provide guidance and support on relevant regulatory and compliance matters, and will be a key partner with business stakeholders to help manage regulatory risks within the organization.
The ideal candidate will have a proficient understanding of OSFI, federal and provincial regulations, and filings within the insurance industry. This role will be crucial in ensuring that our organization operates within, and is aligned with, all appropriate legal and regulatory frameworks while maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct and adherence to industry best practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A post-secondary education in a related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and Canadian regulatory compliance/legal experience. Experience in the P&C insurance industry or other financial institution preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of OSFI, federal and provincial regulations, and regulatory filings in the insurance sector.
  • Familiarity with Canadian insurance industry standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Experience supporting the development and maintenance of an RCM program.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor regulatory developments from OSFI, federal and provincial regulations, including the review and analysis of regulatory amendments, newly established guidelines, coming into force dates and legislative changes.
  • Facilitate the tracking and monitoring of regulatory requirements across the enterprise and ensure appropriate controls are implemented within the required timelines to mitigate any compliance risks.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and emerging compliance issues.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory applications and filings to Canadian insurance regulators on all licensing, registration, as well as maintenance of extra-provincial registrations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to timelines.
  • Coordinate in the preparation and completion of internal compliance reports, such as the annual attestation and quarterly regulatory briefing notes to the Board of Directors.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of the overall Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) Framework and Policy.
  • Provide assistance in the preparation of meeting documents and other assignments, as required, to support various compliance projects and complex tasks.
