About the role
Balfour Beatty are currently looking for a Compliance Coordinator to join our HR Shared Services function based in Longbenton, Newcastle upon Tyne.
The HR Shared Service is the HR administration and Payroll section of the HR Enabling Function providing critical, continual administrative support to employees throughout their entire life cycle; from on boarding new starters through to the day they leave the company and every aspect in between. HR Shared Services is made up of core administration teams and specialist teams who look after our 16,000 UK based employees across a range of roles in construction, utilities and Rail.

What you’ll be doing
As a Compliance Coordinator you will join our established Audit and Compliance team, being a key player in all thing’s compliance, including:
- Managing all individual rights requests, as described within Chapter 3 of the UK GDPR, in terms of discovery, redactions, and response
- Working closely with the Data Protection Officer in relation to case management, incidents and reporting
- Carrying out training for employees (when required) to ensure that staff are aware of their compliance responsibilities
- Managing complaints to ensure effective escalation, communication, and close out.
- Supporting ;the compliance team in our shared service centre for external audits through preparation, coordination, and presentation of response.
- Working with data to identify trends and action improvement with this knowledge.
- Preparing and presenting all time-bound compliance tasks via Key Performance Indicators and strive to ensure on-time completion of all open actions.
- Supporting internal audits including suggestions for improvement and monitoring of action completion.
Who we’re looking for
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Ideally, have experience of supporting and coordinating individual rights requests, including Data Subject Access Requests, and other data sharing requests.
- A good attention to detail is critical in this role and our successful candidate will take full responsibility for the quality of their own work as well as supporting colleagues in maintaining our high standards.
- Strong verbal and written communicative skills are hugely valued in HR Shared Services; our customers are at the centre of everything we do; we need to ensure that we are able to communicate effectively with them.
- Experience in managing high volume workloads, and able to work towards our KPIs of timeliness and quality
- Experience working cross-functionally and collaborating with and receiving direction from colleagues from other departments e.g. IT, Employee Relations, Occupational Health, Insurance and Legal
- A team player who can work well with their colleagues in a supportive environment
