OVERVIEW:
We are seeking an experienced Compliance Manager and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)/Anti-Money Laundering Officer (AMLO) to lead our Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) application process and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements within the EU.This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual with expertise in financial compliance, AML/KYC regulations, and the ability to engage with regulators and stakeholders. Fluency in English and German is essential.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Fluency in German (written and spoken) is essential.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in compliance, AML/KYC, preferably in financial services,crypto, fintech, or related industries.
- Demonstrated experience leading regulatory applications, ideally with MiCA or similar financial frameworks.
- Proven knowledge of Austrian financial regulations and experience working with the FMA or other EU regulators.
- Strong understanding of EU AML/KYC regulations and relevant risk management frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with regulators, internal teams, and senior management.
- Certified AML professional or similar relevant qualifications preferred.
- Based within the EU, with the ability to travel to Austria as required.

Responsibilities:
- Leading the MiCA Application:
- Drive the end-to-end application process for MiCA compliance, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the FMA in Austria, coordinating all correspondence and responding to inquiries or additional information requests.
- Collaborate with legal, technical, and compliance teams to compile necessary documentation, policies, and procedures for the MiCA application.
- AML/KYC Compliance:
- Act as the MLRO/AMLO, overseeing the implementation and maintenance of robust Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) programs.
- Conduct ongoing monitoring of transactions and customer due diligence to identify, assess, and mitigate risks of money laundering and terrorist financing.
- Ensure that AML/KYC procedures are aligned with EU and Austrian legal frameworks and MiCA requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay updated on regulatory changes affecting MiCA, AML, and KYC in Austria and the broader EU, ensuring the company’s policies remain compliant with these regulations.
- Advise the Head of Compliance and other stakeholders on emerging risks, regulatory updates, and best practices in compliance.
- Implement internal audits and risk assessments to monitor compliance and mitigate potential regulatory violations.
- Liaison with Regulators: Build and maintain strong relationships with the FMA and other relevant regulatory bodies, ensuring smooth communication and transparency throughout the regulatory approval and compliance process. Prepare and submit regular compliance reports, risk assessments, and any required filings to the FMA and other relevant authorities.
- Policy Development:
- Develop and refine internal compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures in line with MiCA requirements, AML/KYC standards, and other applicable regulations.
- Provide training and guidance to internal teams on regulatory requirements, compliance processes, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Risk Management:
- Identify and assess risks related to MiCA, AML, KYC, and other regulatory areas, implementing appropriate controls and mitigation measures.
- Ensure that any potential compliance breaches or suspicious activities are reported promptly to the relevant authorities, following legal and regulatory guidelines.
