To strengthen our Legal & Compliance team, we are looking for an experienced Compliance Officer. Reporting to the Head of Legal & Compliance, the successful candidate will become part of a motivated and open-minded team that takes pride in a collaborative and flexible work mode which is based on trust and support.
Your responsibilities
- Manage existing and implement new compliance procedures and policies relating to Swiss legal/regulatory and Munich Re Group requirements
- Assume ownership for specific compliance topics mentioned in the compliance policy and provide expert legal advice on core compliance topics to the business
- Contribute to the further development of the CMS framework, including the development of new controls, enhancement of existing ones, and identify efficiencies and automation opportunities
- Prepare and perform compliance reviews and participate in periodic compliance risk assessments with the business owners
- Identify and monitor compliance risks and manage (potential) compliance breaches
- Stay updated on legal and regulatory developments, identifying significant trends
- Provide input for and support group-wide compliance initiatives and projects
- Support the Head of Legal & Compliance in compliance reporting to management and board as well as to the Group and authorities
- Support our Data Protection Expert in all matters related to privacy regulations (FADP, GDPR)
- Advise and train NewRe’s staff on compliance matters incl. the development of corresponding training materials
- Encourage a compliance culture to prevent illegal, unethical and improper behaviour
Your profile
- Higher Education such as FH/University degree in law or economics or an equivalent education (e.g. Diploma of Advanced Studies in Compliance Management)
- Relevant experience of at least 3 years as an in-house compliance officer in the financial industry (preferably in (re)insurance)
- Sound understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance risks in the Swiss financial sector
- Knowledge and strong interest in Swiss data protection and privacy law, ideally also in cyber and AI regulation
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to work thoroughly, independently and result-orientated
- Passion for compliance and for implementing and maintaining the group-wide compliance management system at local level
- Team player with strong communication and social skills
- Proactive and flexible personality with the ability of taking ownership and working in a dynamic matrix environment
- Valuing and promoting an inclusive working and learning environment
- Fluent in English and German
