We are looking for an exceptional Compliance Officer to join our Financial Aid department.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Compliance Officer in the Financial Aid department will be responsible for providing support to the Director, Financial Aid and Compliance. They will be responsible for the collection, review, and analysis of students’ files and financial records, in terms of compliance with laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to Ontario Career Colleges. They undertake tasks and responsibilities mainly supporting the compliance team.
* This position has an option to work 1 day per week remotely*
DUTIES include but are not limited to the following:
- Manages the administration of provincial programs and policies regarding the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP).
- Manages the development and administration of the ministry’s inspection, audit, investigation, and related activities to ensure compliance with the OSAP provisions of the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.
- Support Financial Aid Department’s compliance under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005 and the Regulations made under the Act.
- Generate reports from campus login in a timely manner.
- Audit student files and financial records before graduation.
- Responsible for supporting all types of financial aid, i.e., OSAP, Financial Grants, as well as their policies, regulations, and laws.
- Answer any student or financial aid employees’ questions regarding financial aid policies and regulations.
- Review KPI enrolments & graduation report by term before submission.
- Verification of Letter of Acceptance for the International Students Program.
- Compliance Reporting for International Students.
- Project Co-Lead for the Compliance Requirements Project.
- Develop and maintain an asset register for an Inventory Management System.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as finance is preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in an Ontario Career College is an asset.
- Advanced knowledge about education funding services i.e., OSAP, Education Grants is desirable.
- Extensive knowledge of regulatory compliance regarding financial aid services is preferred.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint presentations.
