Reporting to Compliance Director, the Compliance Officer is a hybrid role, based in Toronto and will be responsible for all the compliance matters in Canada. You will be enhancing the global and regional compliance standards and supporting the continued development and implementation of Medison’s compliance program and ethical behaviour.
The Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that Medison and its partners accede to regulatory requirements, both national and international, as required by local regulation and law. You will ensure full adherence to standards, policies, and procedures and will also be responsible for enhancing internal policies. This role will support all local risk management activities including audits, to ensure the Canadian organisation is fully compliant with all local legislation.

Requirements:

  • Degree in law, finance, business, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical sector with a minimum of three years’ experience in a compliance function.
  • Possess an exceptional knowledge of pharmaceutical industry laws, guidelines, and codes.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills as well as a focus on detail are also essential
  • Successful track record of building a culture of compliance and ethics
  • French is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence with global standards and local laws and regulations.
  • Provide high quality compliance guidance and support, consistent with the Company culture and values, promoting ethical behaviour, ensuring Medison’s internal requirements are fully met, and compliance risks are properly handled and mitigated.
  • Provide local clearance/approval and review
  • Manage the Canadian compliance programs, implementing and developing processes, and systems to mitigate compliance risks.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and enhancement of the Medison global compliance program with regional colleagues and country leadership team to maintain and further develop a strong culture of compliance, including personal accountability at all levels in the organization with a spirit of partnership and positive problem solving.
  • Ensure local third-party vendors pre-approvals.
  • Responsible for local compliance training in line with global program.
  • Provide compliance support to local business initiatives on product launches and in-market execution of all fronts, partnering cross-functionally to ensure proper risk management and oversight.
  • Provide advice on various other general business-related matters and works cross- functionally to secure strategic and timely compliance guidance enabling Medison to develop and optimize its business with the highest ethical standards.
  • Share local feedback and updates to relevant global compliance functions, ensuring proper alignment and visibility to compliance senior management
  • Participate/lead global compliance initiatives as needed.
  • Provide strategic direction and compliance leadership to the country.
  • Lead proactive compliance initiatives such as risk assessments, compliance workshops, training initiatives, and other compliance monitoring activities.
  • Draft and/or update appropriate policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and industry codes and alignment with global policies.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of affiliate transparency reporting requirements and assist business leadership in meeting reporting obligations.
  • Assist in the execution of global risk based third party due diligence process.
  • Support internal investigations, as required.
  • Manage administrative and operational aspects of the Compliance program in the country.
