Job Title: Compliance Specialist

We are currently seeking a Compliance Specialist with a strong background in substance use disorder or behavioral health compliance to join our team.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Support Compliance Program: Oversee the administration and establishment of best practices for the organization’s compliance program.
- Policy and Procedure Review: Assess facility and corporate policies to ensure compliance with current regulations and standards.
- Communication and Education: Communicate industry standards and regulatory updates from JC/CARF, QM/RM meetings, and other sources to management and staff. Provide compliance training across teams.
- Survey Preparation: Prepare documentation and review materials for Joint Commission/CARF surveys, ensuring full alignment with compliance requirements.
- Risk Management: Collaborate with operations, revenue cycle, and clinical departments to monitor risk areas, develop action plans, and reinforce compliance culture.
- Audit and Reporting: Develop data-driven audit tools, including KPIs, to produce reports reflecting audit findings accurately.
- State Licensing & Regulatory Filings: Lead the licensing process, including CON filings, licensing applications, CLIA waivers, and other necessary regulatory submissions.
- Medical Record Review: Conduct reviews to ensure medical records and billing information comply with documentation standards.
- Facility Inspections: Inspect facilities to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, identifying and communicating safety or risk concerns.
- Safety and Risk Management: Serve as Safety and Risk Manager, overseeing claims management, fire and life safety, and environmental compliance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a healthcare compliance role, with a strong preference for behavioral health or substance use disorder experience.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of Joint Commission/CARF standards, state and federal policies, and experience with data management and quality management plans.
- Skills: Exceptional communication, leadership, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Strong initiative and professionalism required.
