COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST
LOCATION: Chicago, IL

ROLE OVERVIEW: The Compliance Specialist will play a critical role to help ensure that BOWA’s operations and its employees adhere to the laws that regulate the construction industry. The Compliance Specialist will provide audit information to management by researching and analyzing data, preparing reports, conducting risk assessments, and enforcing corrective action where necessary.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in Business Administration or Accounting.
- Accreditation with the International Compliance Association (is a plus).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a compliance role.
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work in a high-speed environment and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with diverse project teams.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct compliance status meetings with the project teams to discuss certified payroll workforce utilization, subcontractor utilization, and impacts to contract utilizations.
- Conduct quarterly audits of lien waivers, i.e., sub tiers
- Conduct quarterly audits of good standing with the unions. any problems with union benefits and etc.
- Tracking and update current on daily reports
- Tracking permit dates and reissuance as needed i.e., ROW, Drives, etc.
- Coordinate and attend workforce and subcontractor outreach events on behalf of BOWA which may occur in evenings and some weekends.
- Conduct meetings with subcontractors to address outstanding issues, train subcontractors, and provide direction to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local compliance goals.
- Responsible for managing a wide variety of certified tasks, i.e.: Davis-Bacon, prevailing wage, etc.
- Filing regulatory reports and other documentation
- Liaise with industry trade organizations and assist agencies to identify pertinent resources to support BOWA and subcontractors to ensure project compliance goals are met.
- Conduct audits on project sites & develop audit reports.
- Develop training materials and tools for all assigned areas of compliance.
- Creates and maintains spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel to maintain statistical work reports, correspondence, workforce intake data, and other contract related files.
- Facilitate training on local, state, federal compliance regulations.
