JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Data & Analytics - Computational Science section Informatics is looking for interdisciplinary scientists with strong experience in computational biology to perform scientific data analyses in partnership with Research and Early Development from the office in Mississauga, Ontario.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Minimum of a PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, or related sciences.
Experience analyzing and integrating high dimensional genomics data types such as single-cell RNA-Seq
Expertise in languages such as R or Python for computational analyses.
Proficiency in Unix/Linux
Record of scientific publications.
Good understanding of biological concepts and experimental methods commonly used in molecular biology and interest to learn more.
Excellent verbal and written communication with computational and non-computational audiences.
Responsible and reliable; goal and task oriented. Able to work independently to answer scientific questions using public and private data sets.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Strong background, experience, or degree in biomedical field is preferred (eg Neuroscience, Immunology, Genetics, etc.).
Experience with version control and issue tracking systems (eg. git, JIRA).
Experience working with High Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
Machine Learning skills are a plus.

Collaborate closely with partner scientists, understand their biological questions, and use public and internal databases to provide reliable scientific answers.
Process and analyze high dimensional genomics data types using existing pipelines.
Presenting data analysis results using open source and internally developed tools.
