Description:

Are you passionate about building physics and computational design to drive innovation in the built environment? Join our team at OMRT as an engineer specialized in Urban and Building Physics. It’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in parametric tooling, skill building, and integral functional design, all within one unique position.
You’ll be at the forefront of computational studies, working closely with project managers to align these studies with project goals and client requirements. Your continuous learning in building physics and integral optimization will be crucial as you analyze data to derive valuable project insights that inform project decisions and improvements. Additionally, you’ll contribute to enhancing our in-house tools, collaborating with the product team to implement feedback.
This role reports to the Head of Service and works closely with Project Managers, Engineers, the Sales team, and the Tech & Product team to deliver top notch results to our clients. You will be part of a mid-sized company where you can navigate increasingly complex projects and collaborate with various teams, making a significant impact in our industry and for our clients.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in (Building) Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; an advanced degree in a relevant field is appreciated
  • High proficiency in computational design tools and methodologies, with a strong foundation in engineering, architecture, and building physics.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Effective communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • (Visual) programming skills for tool improvement and automation.
  • Analytical skills to analyze data and derive actionable insights useable in real estate development and design processes.
  • Relevant certifications in building physics, environmental design, computational design or software development are advantageous.
  • Fluency in English and Dutch

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct computational design studies to deliver optimized solutions for clients with a focus on Urban and Building Physics (Wind, Sun, Energy, Sound, Comfort, Daylight, and Sustainability).
  • Work closely with project managers to align design and optimization studies with project goals and client requirements.
  • Continuously expand your knowledge in architecture, building physics, finance and computational tooling, integrating new insights into your work and fostering a culture of learning.
  • Share your extensive knowledge of urban and building physics with the rest of the team and clients. Adding to our in-house knowledge system and guiding clients to the correct insights.
  • Analyze delivered data to inform clients on project decisions, ensuring that each project is grounded in solid analytical foundations and delivers measurable improvements that add value for our clients.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of processes, methodologies, and results, ensuring transparency and facilitating continuous improvement and ensuring a consistent level of quality.
  • Work with the product team to enhance and customize in-house parametric tools, driving tool improvement and ensuring that our technology remains cutting edge.
