Cranleigh STEM has partnered with a well-renowned engineering company that designs and manufactures superconducting electromagnets for scientific applications. The team is now recruiting for a Computational Scientist to join its team in West Sussex on a permanent basis.

COMPUTATIONAL SCIENTIST REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven ability to communicate complex results effectively through written reports and spoken presentations.
  • Degree qualification, in a relevant discipline.
  • A determined problem-solver, meticulous about details, with a natural talent for identifying and correcting errors.
  • Ability to devise innovative solutions within challenging operational constraints.
  • Practical experience in magnets, cryogenics, mechanics, electronics, production methods, and collaborative work environments is highly advantageous.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: £35,000 - £50,000
    Benefits: 25 Days holiday + banks, Company pension, Cycle to work scheme, Free on-site parking, Referral programme, Sick pay.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will bring a strong background in Physics or Engineering and will engage in a variety of tasks, including:

  • Design superconducting and resistive electromagnets and coil systems using advanced tools including ANSYS finite element packages. These designs will simultaneously address electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical aspects.
  • Develop and maintain bespoke software for the design and testing of magnet systems.
  • Creating special-purpose tools using commercial software packages.
  • Provide expert advice and perform troubleshooting analysis to support production.
