Description:

Peppers Silo Hotel is an inspiring $30 million redevelopment of the Kings Wharf grain silos in Launceston, Tasmania. The nine-storey hotel consists of 108 rooms, including 52 in the barrels of the former silos, and overlooks the nearby tourist drawcards of Seaport, Royal Park, the Tamar River Basin and Cataract Gorge. On our ground floor you will find Silo Day Spa, and Level 1 you will find Grain of the Silos offering dining experiences across the restaurant, café and Woody’s Bar where local produce is at the heart of all creations. Launceston, the largest city in northern Tasmania is a gastronomic hub and offers a diverse range of wineries, distilleries, markets and art galleries to explore during your down time.
Purpose
As the Conference & Events Operations Manager, you will oversee daily operations across a range of bespoke conference & events while actively participating during peak hours as a hands on leader. You will Manage and supervise tasks and team members to ensure the highest quality service ensuring successful conference and events experiences for the client and business.

The Role & Property

  • Base salary range of $73,000 - $75,000 + Super based on experience
  • Complementary parking
  • 4 spaces with capacity up to 150 offering a range of dynamic events and partnerships
  • Award winning operation, 3 x State Tourism Gold Medal Winner, inducted into Hall of Fame in 2023 and National Tourism Award Silver Medal

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Food and Beverage Manager, Conference & Event Manager, Executive Chef and General Manager
  • Oversee all operational aspects within Conferencing & Events and develop innovative and insightful strategies for optimising guest experience and revenue growth opportunities
  • Provide mentorship, guidance & training to empower teams in developing their knowledge and personal growth
  • Have an understanding of all licensing and operating legislation, which affects the department including the Liquor Act.
  • Maintain close contact with the Conference organiser at all stages of the events, ensuring guest satisfaction and quality of services offered have been maintained
  • Provide management presence at all times by assisting with the handling of guests’ needs and complaints tactfully and efficiently

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience within a leadership role in that of operational conferencing & events
  • Strong financial and business acumen with a track record in managing budgets, overseeing inventory, and creating staff schedules
  • Genuine and effective communicator, adept at managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Outstanding organisational skills with a keen ability to prioritise tasks and respond promptly
  • Able to accommodate a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
  • Poised and composed, even in high-pressure situations
  • Possession of a valid RSA for Tasmania
