Description:

Reporting to the Director of Industrial Security, the Industrial Security Advisor will provide support regarding the safety aspects of exploration camp operations as well as industrial security. They will work closely with technical services members, as well as personnel from various associated companies, external consultants, and other members of the company based on project needs and expected outcomes. Based at the Windfall site in the Nord-du-Québec region, they will be required to work on a schedule of 15 days on followed by 13 days off. Transportation, accommodation, and meals will be provided.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess an occupational health and safety and environmental technique or a certificate in occupational health and safety or combination of experience and education could be considered;
  • Experience in health and safety as well as mining or exploration, (an asset);
  • Ability to manage a multitude of files simultaneously and work under pressure or ambiguity;
  • Possess the mining modules (1,2,3,4,5 and 7);
  • Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s licence;
  • Hold an explosive licence;
  • Bilingualism (French and English) (an asset).

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation;
  • Master the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, etc.).

BASIC SKILLS

  • Work as a team through collaboration, information sharing and efficient communication;


    • Good organizational, planning and priority management skills;

    • Have good written and verbal communication skills;
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;
    • Be able to work independently with minimal supervision;
    • Be able to work in a remote environment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Enforcing safe work techniques and reinforcing the security policies, guidelines, and procedures outlined by the Company;
    • Providing guidance (coaching hierarchical lines) and ensuring the daily management of security programs at the employee and supervisor levels to ensure a common and effective approach;
    • Working closely with nursing staff on preventive measures;
    • Conducting workplace inspections, safety analyses, task observations, and compliance audits;
    • Providing support to supervisors and managers during accident investigations and analyses;
    • Supporting supervisors and managers in their prevention activities;
    • Ensuring that contractor personnel working on the property adhere to safety policies and requirements;
    • Implementing and contributing to site training plans by providing orientation sessions to employees and certain specialized health and safety training;
    • Collaborating with the CNESST inspector as needed;
    • Supporting the emergency measures coordinator by assisting in the maintenance and compliance of emergency plans and disaster prevention procedures on site;
    • Maintaining information filing systems related to worker training and safety;
    • Supporting operational teams in risk analysis development;
    • Participating, as needed, in the health and safety committee and related tasks;
    • Providing technical support to users of occupational health and safety software;
    • Always adhering to workplace health and safety policies and rules, and ensuring compliance by personnel;
    • Performing any other related tasks pertinent to the industrial security advisor position relevant to the project’s success.
