Description:

Jenny Bour with Robert Half is working with a growing construction company that is looking for a Construction Accountant to join their team! This Construction Accountant will play a vital role in managing the financial aspects of construction projects. This includes handling in-house payroll, ensuring compliance with prevailing wage requirements, managing accounts payable, overseeing contracts, and performing general bookkeeping tasks. The ideal candidate for this Construction Accountant position will have experience in the construction industry, experience with certified payroll, and great attention to detail! Responsibilities:

Handle certified payroll for field and office employees
Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure all employees are paid according to prevailing wage jobs
Accumulate all timesheets and prepare them for approval by the field superintendent
Manage accounts payable, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payments
Monitor compliance with construction/union payroll regulations and OSHA standards
Verify previous payments to ensure accuracy and prevent double payments
Utilize Deltek ComputerEase software for various accounting functions
Maintain a high level of attention to detail in all tasks
Assist with contract management and preparation of AIA documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project timelines.
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including prevailing wage laws and tax filings.
Prepare and analyze financial reports related to construction projects, including job cost reporting and budget analysis.
Work closely with project managers, estimators, and other team members to ensure financial accuracy and project success.
3+ years of experience working in a bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, or similar role, preferably within the construction industry.
Certified payroll experience is highly desired.
Experience with Deltek software is a significant plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered.
Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
Familiarity with construction contracts, AIA billing, and prevailing wage requirements is preferred.
