POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in civil engineering, construction engineering, project management or a related field.
  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years of construction experience with exposure to structural steel erection and/or fabrication, construction QC or construction surveying.
  • Ability to travel to project sites on regular basis or as required.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Works independently and takes ownership of project oriented specific tasks.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge in structural steel fabrication and erection industry standard practices.
  • Knowledge of Construction Safety and H&S Legislation.
  • Understanding construction project scheduling practices.
  • General knowledge of cranes, construction, and steel erecting equipment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge in Excel and Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to be flexible, multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong Organization Skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Interpersonal Skills working in a team environment.
  • A team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively and professionally with coworkers and other associates within Walters team and with General Contractors, equipment suppliers in a collegial, fast paced work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain project document control and procedures for WFS assigned projects (technical, site sequencing, and reporting).
  • Travels to project sites to support WFS Superintendents and ensure project site administration is being completed accurately and to address any questions or concerns on site, as required.
  • Build detailed field schedules in MS Project.
  • Create and develop site logistics plans, drawings, crane plans and rigging studies, etc. using 3D Lift Planner, AutoCAD and Tekla.
  • Produces weekly labour cost reports (LCR) and monitors progress, benchmarking the actuals against the estimates.
  • Responds to questions and concerns from our site teams in timely manner by providing recommendations and/or collaborating with the Walters project team to seek solutions to construction and technical challenges, etc.
  • Train and mentor project site teams with SOP’s, construction progress tracking, QC management, etc.
  • Assist and support Walters Field surveyors
  • Provides WFS construction engineer with accurate and complete drawings for approval process and maintain the related file, (WFS Drawings, Detail Drawings for Fabrication, Client views) as required.
  • Assist with managing WFS construction equipment and temporary works including detailing and fabrication in collaboration with WFS Equipment Manager and the Construction Team.
  • Responds to equipment and resource inquiries by engineering, production, sales, and Field Stores regarding project requirements in a timely manner and in collaboration with Walters Construction Engineers.
