We are looking for a dedicated Construction Engineer - Electrical Works to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our excellent team based in Skellefteå. By joining us, you will be a key player in contributing to build one of the first large scale European battery factories.
About the job
Construction Engineer supervise the construction activities assigned to third party contractors, and ensures compliance with schedule, costs, quality, health, safety and environmental protection requirements.
Specifically, Electrical Works Construction Engineer shall have solid background in installation and pre-commissioning and energization of electrical systems and components on construction projects. The Construction Engineer shall oversee the installation and pre-commissioning of these systems for the production of Cathode Active Materials, Waste Water Treatment and utilities distribution, ensuring compliance with electrical codes, standards and safety regulations. Relevant experience needed includes, but is not limited to, the following: cable containment, power distribution, lighting, equipotential boding, LV and HV switchgears, MCCs and VFDs.

OTHER VALUABLE (BUT NOT REQUIRED) EXPERIENCE:

  • Familiarity with AB04 (general conditions of contract for building & civil engineering works & building services)
  • Familiarity with ABT06 (general conditions of contract for design & construct contracts for building, civil engineering, and installation works)
  • Familiarity with Sweden’s Arbetsmiljöverket Laws and Provisions applicable to construction projects
  • Familiarity with the applicable AMA codes, SSG standards and BBR (Boverkets Byggregler) building regulations
  • Heta Arbeten Permit Issuer (Hot Works loss prevention) course highly valued

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the CM in preparing and updating of construction schedules that meet Northvolt’s project objectives;
  • Ensuring the most suitable solutions in terms of assembly sequences, works scheduling, constructability, feasibility, etc.;
  • Coordinating the site activities of contractors including interfaces with other ongoing projects and departments within Northvolt Ett site.
  • Checking construction progress weekly, identifying any critical aspects and requesting the necessary actions from the Contractor concerned (including for pre-fabrication shops)
  • Checking the adequacy of personnel and equipment belonging to the contractors, promoting any actions required to achieve objectives
  • Interfacing with Northvolt vendors, including reviewing their documentation and deliveries for compliance as well as installation and integration at site. If necessary participate/support in FATs as well as SATs
  • Verifying that works are correctly carried out, in accordance with project documentation, notifying Engineering of problems encountered in the field and contribute to the identification and implementation of the suitable solution
  • Attending the tests, controls and inspections carried out by Contractor and it sub-contractors, checking conformity required by Northvolt specifications, European Norms & Directives and National Standards (including ATEX where applicable);
  • Ensuring the orderly collection and management of written records of inspections, controls and test results by Main Contractor for the purpose of approvals of mechanically completed plant systems;
  • Participating in determining corrective actions and then ensuring correct implementation of the activities for resolving cases of nonconformity;
  • Facilitate the handover of completed systems to the Northvolt Commissioning and/or Facilities teams.
  • Ensuring, with the support of the Northvolt HSE Team the field control of HSE aspects, also with reference to activities developed by Contractors/Suppliers;
  • Notifying the CM of problems and deviations that cannot be settled directly
  • Assisting the CM and Project Manager with tasks related to Change Management, including problems concerning claims or price revisions submitted by the contractors.

    Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have :

  • Education: relevant technical education in electrical works. University degree in Electrical engineering desirable but not mandatory.
  • >8 years of experience in industrial construction project
  • Familiarity with Elsäkerhetsverket regulations and provisions applicable to construction projects
  • Familiarity with SSG 4500 (Electrical safety at work for professionals)
  • Familiarity with SSG 4501 (Systematic Electrical Safetywork Company Responsebility - Managers)
  • Familiarity with ATEX (grouping and classification)
  • Electrical Lock-out & Tag-out

Specific skills :

Language

  • English: written and verbal proficiency mandatory
  • Swedish: written and verbal proficiency highly valued

Other:

  • Computer Literacy: MS Office programs, MS Project or other Planning/scheduling software
