We are currently looking for a Construction Engineer to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina!
The Construction Engineer is responsible for all routine on-site project administration, scheduling and engineering. Plans, coordinates, and manages on-site construction engineering activities and schedules and communicates with subcontractors. Prepares monthly pay estimates and updates the Project CPM schedule. Prepares, coordinates and updates job budgets, change orders and cost reports for Manager’s review and approval.

  • Report to Engineering Services Manager.
  • Initial assignment may be to a specific project or to the Estimating team.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDES, BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
  • Manage engineering assignments which may include managing external consultants.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers/Engineers and Owners to resolve issues.
  • Provide engineering and/or estimating support during project pursuit phase.
  • Provide construction engineering services.
  • Identify and assist with the preparation of value engineering proposals.
  • Develop standard templates for work plans, submittals, RFIs, etc.
  • Assist with preconstruction documents, including rosters, logs, schedules, submittals, work plans, etc.
  • Assist with material and shop drawing submittals.
  • Analyze project productions and assist with improvement.
  • Assist with cost forecasting.
  • Assist with work planning, including project numbers, codes, quantities, production rates, and staff/equipment schedules and needs.
  • Assist Project Manager with project log updates and maintenance.
  • Assist with P6 project schedule updates and modifications.
  • Assist with development of project change orders and claims.
  • Assist with surveying calculations and plans.
  • Assist with implementation of new software (3D CAD, DatuBIM, etc.).POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2-4 years of relative design or field experience.
  • PE or the ability to obtain PE once experience and testing requirements are met.
  • Proficient in (or ability to learn) AutoCAD, MicroStation, AGTEK, MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint, B2W, and COINS.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter and ability to work unsupervised.
  • Team player and self-motivated to be successful.
  • Periodic travel required.
  • Legally able to work in the US.
