Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Cost Manager to join our team. In this role, you will support the project team in managing the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects and completing quantity surveying. Working closely with senior project managers, you will develop cost estimates, obtain trade pricing, analyze project budgets, and help ensure projects remain within financial targets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams and other cost management software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively. Read and interpret construction, engineer and designer drawings and designs to a high degree.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience in construction or cost management.
  • Basic understanding of Ontario’s building codes and construction regulations.
  • Interest in pursuing certification through the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) is an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates by analyzing labor, materials, and equipment needs for projects.
  • Budget Management: Help monitor and track project budgets to ensure expenditures align with financial objectives.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate cost and contract documentation, reports, and forecasts.
  • Vendor and Contractor Liaison: Support contract managers in communicating with vendors and contractors, ensuring contract terms are understood and followed to obtain pricing. Full project tendering.
  • Project Monitoring: Track expenses throughout the project lifecycle and assist in preparing financial reports for management. Allocating trade and supplier invoices to each project and updating costs to date on budget sheets.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential financial risks under the guidance of senior cost managers and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Assisting Office Manager: Putting together and delivering client project invoices and assisting in accounts receivable.
