ESTIMATOR – ATLANTIC ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND PAVING

ARCP is a mid-size heavy civil construction company specializing in heavy civil excavation and flatworks, pipeline placement, concrete placement and asphalt paving in Dartmouth, NS. The demand for construction in our city & surrounding areas is high, with that, and our experienced team, our operation has seen some tremendous growth over the years. A critical part of our growth & success starts with the Estimating department. We are looking to add a dynamic, intelligent, hardworking Estimator with the drive to succeed to our team. The successful candidate will have an innate ability to form strong relationships with customers, a strong understanding of civil construction & a keen eye for detail. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Completed education in one or more of the following areas:
  • Construction Management
  • Civil Engineering
  • Construction Management Technology
  • Civil Engineering Technology
  • Extensive experience estimating provincial and municipal & commercial projects.
  • Working knowledge of various Estimating and CAD software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional attitude, punctual, assertive, and personable.
  • Must have strong communication, time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a solid understanding of ARCP business operations.
  • Read blueprints in order to estimate project cost effectively.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare estimates of probable costs.
  • Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers on various estimates towards the construction project.
  • Prepare a summary of the quantities in terms of the plans and specs.
  • Examine & analyze tender documents, requests for proposals, and requests for quotations.
  • Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, and contractors.
