Description:

Located in the lower mainland, we are seeking a highly motivated, committed and organized Construction Estimator in a fast-paced environment.
Masonry estimating background mandatory.

The successful candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of building concepts, strong communication and problem solving abilities and be extremely detail orientated. The company undertakes a large amount of repeat business and pride themselves on retaining long term relationships with their clients.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience: 2 years or more in construction industry (Masonry – Exterior Cladding and CMU)

Tasks

  • Prepare estimates of labor and/or material costs.
  • Prepare quantity take-off using AutoCAD / CostX.
  • Prepare and analyze estimates for general expenses and overheads.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications.
  • Project cash flow and financing requirements.
  • Estimate pre-contract costs
  • Utilize quantity take-off procedures
  • Advise on tendering procedures
  • Monitor and adjust contract expenditures
  • Prepare and maintain directory of supplies and trade contractors.
  • Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Analyze drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate tender process with clients, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, etc.
  • Create and issue quotes/proposal submission documents.
  • AutoCad: Execution and revision of construction plans.

Qualifications & Requirements * Project Construction Management /Engineering / Estimating diploma or degree

  • Knowledge of multi-trade disciplines an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Cost Control: experience working with and adhering to budgets
  • Experience using email and Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and to make decisions using sound judgement

Job Type: Permanent
Pay: From $35.00 per hour
