Description:
Position Title: Construction Manager
This is a Senior Construction Manager position. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing significant components of a construction project up to €50M in value.
The candidate is expected to work with some strategic guidance from their manager/peers but must have the ability to work independently for the most part. It is important that the candidate has experience working on large projects—ideally another biopharmaceutical facility (or similar). They will be working in a fast-paced atmosphere with multiple stakeholders. Managing these stakeholders, including construction contractors and key client personnel, is a key portion of the role.
It is critical for this individual to understand that Safety, Quality, and Compliance are the highest priorities in managing and performing the work.
The Senior Construction Manager will lead planning and oversee the execution of construction tasks. Coordination of contractor personnel, ensuring information is available from the architectural/engineering designers, and incorporating client inputs are key responsibilities.
With minimal guidance, the candidate will lead a substantial portion of the construction of a €50M biopharma facility construction project, including: Safety, planning, schedule, risk management, communications, resources, team dynamics and performance, implementation, monitoring, completion, and follow-up.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or relevant experience.
- 5+ years of construction management/engineering experience, preferably in the biotechnology industry or aseptic pharmaceutical environment.
- Proven construction management experience from project inception through to handover.
- Demonstrated experience in a GDP-compliant environment is advantageous.
- Solid leadership skills and experience working in a team environment, embracing an interdependent working culture that delivers results.
- Technical report writing and communication/presentation skills.
- Data-driven decision-maker.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:
- Construction management, including planning/scoping and execution, prioritization, resource management, status management, and external communication.
- Work with various stakeholders, both inside and outside the client organization, to scope works and ensure requirements are satisfied. Manage expectations and communicate progress and challenges to these stakeholders.
- Lead day-to-day construction management of project works.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure that installations and deliverables meet industry standards and client expectations.
- Provide strategic solutions to complex project phasing and execution issues. The Construction Manager will be responsible for their project from concept, through design, construction, commissioning, and operation.
- Work collaboratively within the Process Teams structure and contribute to Root Cause Investigations and Cross-Functional Investigations.
- Act as a role model for safety leadership. Support a safe working environment by driving compliance with environmental health/safety practices, rules, and regulations. Ensure projects are designed with superior levels of environmental control, health, and safety built in.
- Supervise contingent workers as needed. These workers may include construction managers, general craft labour, and A&E firm personnel.
