Are you a seasoned professional with a strong background in project management for heavy construction projects? Vancouver Pile Driving Ltd. is on the lookout for an experienced Construction Manager to join our dynamic team in beautiful Prince Rupert. As an integral member of our team, your knowledge and expertise will contribute to the success of our field projects, which facilitates our competitive advantage as a major player in the marine and foundation construction industry.
This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark as a major player in the heavy civil/marine construction business. We are offering a 14-month full-time commitment, with the potential to extend up to 2 years, allowing you to gain invaluable experience while making a significant impact through diverse and engaging assignments!

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering degree or technical diploma with 8 to 12 years of experience as a construction manager.
  • Experience in the construction of large-scale oil and gas projects.
  • Ability to develop and implement plans to achieve project milestones and minimize costs.
  • Strong capability in project execution planning.
  • Willingness to work in a remote location for extended periods and varying schedules, including occasional night or weekend work.

Salary Range: $140,000 - $170,000

Responsibilities:

  • Overall management of the construction site while ensuring the alignment of best practices for health, safety, environment, quality, and execution.
  • Provide day-to-day direction, guidance, and counsel for the superintendents in the accomplishment of their operational goals & objectives.
  • Review project progress results, compare them to established objectives, and initiate timely measures to correct unsatisfactory results.
  • Evaluate current and projected workflow on the project and re-allocate personnel to assist in other areas when required.
  • Proactively lead and motivate key direct reports to achieve and exceed project profitability, completion schedule, and productivity goals and objectives.
  • Maintain relationships with client representatives and sub-contractors.
  • Oversee the mobilization and demobilization of required teams and equipment to/from site.
  • Ensure daily verification that all onsite project requirements and commitments are met.
  • Conduct morning day plan meetings and daily equipment planning and coordination meetings.
  • Verify that the disciplines are executing the planned work.
  • Spend time in the field to ensure work is being executed with quality and in a timely manner.
  • Meet with support functions to conduct monthly (or more frequently) job cost/progress meetings.
  • Attend and present the progress of construction work at management and owner meetings.
  • Assist with reporting on costs, projections, and financial plans.
  • Emphasize & monitor safety performance and obligations on all projects and review/report all safety incidents or infractions.
  • Provide leadership for the development of a “safety culture” for all field activities.
  • Lead the project in SIMOPS onsite.
