About the role
Balfour Beatty has an amazing opportunity for a Construction Manager (Senior Package Manager) to join our outstanding Major Projects team to work at our iconic Old Oak Common development in London.
HS2s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UKs best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.
Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide highspeed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.
As a Construction Manager (Senior Package Manager), you will act as Deputy to the Package Lead for Urban Realm packages and leading various aspects of a portfolio of subcontracts, including external works, earthworks, utilities, civils, landscape, roads and tower crane site-wide services.
In this role, you will support construction and design interfaces, drive value engineering, validate construction sequences/methodologies, and all-around management of subcontractors’ performance & deliverables in line with project requirements.
What you’ll be doing

Other Key responsibilities are:

  • Oversee construction interface management, coordinating between sub-packages and ensuring compliance with project procedures
  • Monitoring activity and package readiness, addressing and resolving blockers.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with documentation, project requirements, and safe systems of work.
  • Review subcontractor and BBVS programmes, identify any corrective actions
  • Identify and implement value engineering opportunities.
  • Recognize risks and opportunities, raise commercial notices, and support commercial teams
  • Drive innovation, digitization, and process improvement on-site.
  • Contribute to design changes review, including constructability reviews.
  • Prepare and support procurement documentation for remaining works, including landscaping and on-site highways, and follow through tender activities to contract awards.
  • Scope analysis, review allocation strategy, identify best for project solutions & implement proposals
