Jacob Bros Construction is immediately hiring a Construction Safety Officer (CSO) for projects throughout the lower mainland. Civil construction experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:
- Administers, monitors and promotes the OH&S Program on-site, encouraging full participation and cooperation of all employees and subcontractors
- Develops and maintains strong, positive professional relationships with project stakeholders of all levels
- Communicates with management regarding safety performance, incident trends, and industry related information
- Maintains current knowledge of OH&S Program, Workers Compensation Act and Regulations, owner requirements, and industry safe work procedures and practices
- Conducts site-specific safety orientations of new employees, transferred employees, and contractor’s workers
- Conducts jobsite inspections, submits inspection reports to Superintendent and Safety team members
- Conducts risk assessments of the workplace when people, equipment, materials, environment and work processes change
- Investigates and reports all accidents, incidents and near misses to the Safety Team; provides effective recommendations for prevention of recurrences
- Assists with hazard assessments, creates JHA’s, project safety plans, safe work procedures, and the education and training of employees
- Posts all bulletins, safety posters, emergency plans, rules and regulations, safety inspections, safety meetings, and any other notices relevant to the OH&S Program
- Liaises with external construction industry safety agencies
- Works efficiently in teams and independently; maintains a positive, high energy attitude
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- OFA Level 2 mandatory
- Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or NSCO certification preferred
- Minimum 3 years experience in site-based health & safety role in the construction industry
- Civil construction experience is strongly preferred
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Working knowledge of computers and experience with Procore (or similar), record keeping and document archival
- Excellent English verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Legally entitled to work for any employer in Canada
