Description:

Founded in Kingston in 1954, Homestead Land Holdings Limited has grown to become one of Canada’s largest and most respected owners of multi-residential apartment buildings. The founding principles of the company are still in place today, which are to provide residents with affordable, secure housing with a standard of care in which we would treat our own family members. We are looking to expand our field staff to increase our volume of new high rise residential apartment buildings in Ontario. You will be joining a team of highly motivated, detail orientated individuals who are looking to expand the inhouse construction building capacity. We are the owners and construction managers of our projects, meaning we build buildings which we plan to own and operate for the long term.
The Construction Superintendent will be responsible for managing all aspects of the site from logistics planning to building commissioning and turnover. Strong communication and leadership abilities are required to be successful in this role. Having previous experience in high rise residential concrete structures is an asset to this position.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years on-site experience as a Construction Superintendent
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • A proven team builder who demonstrates a collaborative attitude on the job site
  • Strong knowledge of construction techniques, specifications, and drawings
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Health and Safety regulations as they apply to construction
  • Computer savvy (Office, CM software, etc.)
  • Possess a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities:

Working under the direction of the Vice President and Construction Manager the position will involve the following key responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with site safety officer to establish and maintain accurate site safety documentation including orientations, safe work procedures and COVID-19 policies
  • Participate in joint health and safety meetings and ensure site operation compliance with safety regulations through daily site walks and engaged safety participation
  • Manage the full project cycle from site mobilization to building turn over
  • Assist the Construction Manager with site logistic planning including site laydown, tower crane location, temporary services, etc.
  • Review trade scopes of work, quotes, and contracts to ensure accurate subcontract scopes
  • Assist the Construction Manager with project schedule development - identifying the critical path and sequence of site activities
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance and control procedures throughout the duration of construction
  • Conduct weekly subtrade meetings to organize and coordinate site activities
  • Coordinate site inspections with consultants and city officials for various stages of the project to ensure compliance with relevant codes (OBC, etc.), regulations and by-laws
  • Manage the building turnover process including building commissioning and deficiency closeout
