Description:

A Construction Support Engineer IV plans and performs work requiring sound engineering judgment in the evaluation, organization, and execution of assignments. As a fully competent Construction Support Engineer, applies diversified knowledge of construction and technical principles, practices, and methods for a range of assignments requiring knowledge and experience with advanced methods, techniques, and procedures. May implement and execute Construction support activities on large projects worldwide. On larger projects the Construction Support Engineer IV may function as the “lead” for construction support activities. This position has developed a working knowledge in one or more specific construction disciplines.

Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop Technical Packages and completes contract scope of work sections for future sub-project contract work scopes.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of other construction support personnel.
  • Prepare project scope of work narrative documents and support contracts formation process as required.
  • Communicate and interact with all levels of craft, supervision, subcontractors and management on Fluor construction sites and/or at home office visits, fabricator shop facilities and alike.
  • Review project schedules and assists in development of work plans to support project milestones.
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines.
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of assignments and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner; set priorities and meet or exceed deadlines.
  • Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks based on priority and field need.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards.
  • Conduct proposal clarification meeting and generate meeting minutes for project record and retention.
  • Coordinate with multiple departments to help sub-contractors get an expedited disposition to project RFI’s
  • Coordinate badge requests and onboarding needs including visitor access control and potential escorting as needed
  • Adhere to and support Fluor’s Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
  • Work with project team to identify work to go and/or punch lists in prep for contract closeout activities
  • Coordinate and hold walkdowns with contractors and Client as needed and confirm notice of completion prep for contract closeout activities
  • Provide and track a detailed description for subcontract submittal deliverables wherein also including pay item schedule and validation checks as needed.
  • Receive, review and process all contractor daily reports
  • Hold and coordinate weekly progress meetings with subcontractors as-well-as help coordinate amongst multiple subcontractors that have near or in close proximity work fronts of which have potential conflicting work fronts.
  • Validate subcontractor work progress and schedule and update progress reports
  • Create a subcontractor submittal tracking registry
  • Create and maintain a technical document list for subcontractors and help interface with work planners for development of construction installation work packages
  • Remain knowledgeable of requirements for applicable codes and standards on a project
  • Work with interface groups to help schedule weekly lookaheads and interface touchpoints ie. Survey crews / coating etc.
  • Assist and inform craft crews, foreman, project supervision in regard to construction related issues identified on drawings and/or specs
  • Perform quality surveillances as needed to help reinforce our site presence and a proactive engagement with our installation crews
  • Prepare material take-offs and procurement packages for requisitions associated with services, materials and equipment necessary to support the project schedule.
  • Provide technical evaluation support for bid proposals
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner by priority and to meet schedule deadlines.
  • Effectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the job
  • Minimal travel outside of site location would be required to meet business related matters
  • Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality
  • Other duties as assigned

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and ten (10) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to, coworkers, management, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
