Responsibilities:
Looking for a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact with your grant writing and management skills? Join our Community Development Lending Practice on the Development & Community Advisory team and support our Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and Community Development Entity (CDE) clients in their efforts to obtain grant funds and tax credits through a variety of Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI Fund) programs. CDFIs and CDEs use these critical funding sources to make positive impacts to low-income communities nationwide.
You will work closely with practice leadership and play a key role in grant and application management function within a leading accounting and advisory firm. This position will serve our existing CDFI and CDE client base in an expanded fashion while acting as a catalyst to grow the practice. You will collaborate with subject-matter specialists on our community development team to write, review and edit grants and funding applications as well as conduct impact assessments on behalf of clients. Key functions include understanding the nuances of multiple CDFI Fund programs, project management and clear written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Write, review and edit various grant applications for funding
  • Monitor other funding applications that are made available to CDFIs and CDEs (e.g., Clean Communities Investment Accelerator (CCIA)
  • Coordinate larger team efforts around programs which clients apply for on an annual basis
  • Conduct project and portfolio impact assessments and write, review and edit impact reports
  • Project manage writing process
  • Create efficiencies to simplify writing when appropriate
  • Collaborate with other team members and subject-matter specialists to coordinate, develop and incorporate technical application content
  • Handle all writing assignments with care and confidentiality
  • Participate in strategic planning process around grant opportunities
  • Partner with internal managers to determine applicability of grants to existing client base
  • Maintain and update database of grant opportunities applicable to clients

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • CDFI industry experience a plus
  • 3 to 5 years of writing/editing experience required; grant writing experience preferred
  • Excellent writing, analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills for internal (team) and external (client) communications
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work extended periods as needed based on specific deadlines/application windows at certain times of the year
  • Interest in taking an opportunity from concept to significant growth/future buildout and playing a leadership role
