We currently process approximately 470,000 requests producing approximately 70,000 cervical cytology slides using the Hologic ThinPrep LBC system. We are committed to quality improvement and research activities.
To be shortlisted for this role you will be a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, hold the Royal College of Pathologists & Institute of Biomedical Science conjoint Advanced Specialist Diploma in Cervical Cytology and NHSCSP Certificate in Cervical Cytology (or equivalent). You will have extensive post-registration experience in Cytopathology with evidence of competency and able to provide evidence of meeting national standards for screening workload.
We are looking for either full or part-time working and you must be flexible to work within the departmental opening hours of 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
The successful Consultant BMS candidate will operate as part of the consultant team in cervical cytology, authorising cervical cytology reports, giving clinical management recommendations and participating in cervical cytology mismatch MDT meetings. The post holder will be a member of the departmental senior management team, bringing clinical expertise and strategic direction to the field of cervical cytology. This will involve expanding and developing best practice, implementing clinical governance and delivering improved outcomes for the Cervical Screening Programme.
