Applications are invited for suitably qualified Consultant Clinical Scientist in Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics for a joint appointment between North Bristol NHS Trust (0.6 wte) and NHS Blood and Transplant (0.4) wte. You would join our committed and enthusiastic team in the department of Immunology and Immunogenetics at North Bristol NHS Trust in a newly created post and will be a key role within the Blood Sciences department of Severn pathology, located at Southmead hospital in Bristol. You would also be joining NHSBT as part of the H&I function joining a national team of Consultant Clinical Scientists to support all aspects of transplantation and transfusion.

We are looking to recruit a motivated and dynamic individual with excellent leadership skills and the experience required to lead and develop the H&I service to continue supporting regional renal transplant teams. As part of Blood Sciences at North Bristol the Department of Immunology and Immunogenetics provides a comprehensive clinical diagnostic service to the North Bristol NHS Trust and local community, The department is committed to providing a high quality service for all its users and is a UKAS accredited medical laboratory. In NHSBT you will be supporting established and partner laboratories and providing clinical advise and strategic direction to NHSBT in all areas of H&I, including travel to NHSBT sites.

The successful applicant will be expected to participate in all aspects of the H&I service including clinical leadership of the H&I service, clinical liaison, strategic management, service and business development, teaching and training and to support the on-going development of Blood Sciences and Severn Pathology and NHSBT plus supporting an out of hours rota in a Consultant capacity in both NBT and NHSBT
A broad range of experience in H&I will be essential along with a proven scientific and professional record, clear leadership skills and an ability to work well as part of a team.
Applicants must be HCPC registered as a Clinical Scientist in Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics and be a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists in the same discipline, or be expected to obtain fellowship in the next 6 months
