Description:

Share in the provision of breast and general radiology to the Trust. The successfully candidate will be encouraged to develop a subspecialist interest according to their own interests and expertise. Most specialist interests can be readily accommodated. Supply breast and general radiology according to a negotiated job plan.
Timetabled commitments of the appointed candidate will cover both Hartlepool and North Tees sites, as do all newly appointed radiologists. The majority of clinical activity for radiologists takes place on the North Tees site. The appointee will be expected to share the aspirations of the other radiologists to provide a wide ranging, high quality imaging service to patients within the Trust. Breast Radiology Duties to include: Independent running of symptomatic clinics Active participation in breast MDT Reporting of Breast MRI Independent running of screening clinics and reading of screening mammograms is desirable but not essential.
Candidates who require training in screening work will be considered Experience of performing vacuum excision is desirable but not essential. Candidates who require additional training will be considered Teaching and training of radiology registrars, medical students, foundation doctors and advanced radiographic practitioners Providing support and specialist breast opinions for medical and non-medical colleagues General Radiology Duties to include: To provide a high quality reporting service for general CT, MRI and plain film examinationsPerform ultrasound and other hands on imaging procedures appropriate to the candidates subspecialist interest The successful candidate will be expected to contribute the Radiology Out of Hours service and the provision of emergency radiology during normal working hours. Prevention and control hospital acquired infection by ensuring close liaison with the Trusts control of infection department Implementation of Trust Risk Management strategy and understand implications of same within area of work Compliance with Blood Transfusion policy to ensure a safe service is provided to patients The post is subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service Consultants England (2003). You must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (London) and be on the Specialist Register with CCT in Radiology or with Credential in Breast Disease Management (or within 6 months of qualification) at the time of appointment. You must be qualified to a minimum of FRCR
