Description:

All Consultants will be expected to contribute to the following: Shared workload of histology and cytology as appropriate for their specialty interests Specimen reporting and authorisation with clinical interpretation of reports Provision of advice regarding specimen type / collection and investigations Day to day supervision of diagnostic methods and examination of specimens Occasional requirement to work or attend meetings at another hospital site Provision of cover for planned leave of colleagues Supervision, training and management of doctors in training in the department Involvement in policy and SOP preparation Responsibility for quality assurance performance within the department, including taking part in all relevant National External Quality Assurance (NEQAS) programmes Responsibility for achieving and maintaining full accreditation via UKAS Business planning, including the assessment and introduction of new methods, and forward planning for staff and equipment requirements. Detailed job-plans and subspecialist interests will be discussed and agreed between the existing consultants and the successful candidate on appointment.
