Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Cellular Pathology at North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Service (NMCPS). We are looking for enthusiastic, forward-thinking Consultants in Cellular Pathology to join the existing team of 19 Pathologists. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates with subspecialist reporting interests or experience to fit in with the needs of existing subspecialist reporting teams covering a large, comprehensive and exciting range of diagnostic surgical and non-gynae cytology work.
NMCPS aims to provide a world-class integrated diagnostic service, where patients receive the highest standards of care and the best people come to work, learn and research. Our mission is to create a large and diverse Cellular Pathology department providing individuals with personalised and flexible working patterns to support their professional interests and development.
You will be supported by strong and experienced specialist reporting teams. Opportunities exist to work in a range of subspecialties. The department is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and is proactive in developing and adopting solutions to maintain high quality sustainable reporting including an expanding scientist reporting strategy, automated laboratory processes and imminent adoption of digital image reporting.
We advocate “lean principles” and have recently moved to 7 day working in the laboratory. Our plans for digital pathology will further underpin successful and efficient flexible working, teaching and research.
NMCPS cellular pathology processes more than 70,000 surgical cases, 5500 non-gynaecological cytology cases and 800 autopsies (the majority for H M Coroner) per annum. The laboratory is modern, well equipped and has excellent facilities including those for immunohistochemistry and rapid processing as well as FISH and Molecular services.
NMCPS aims to provide a world-class integrated diagnostic service, where patients receive the highest standards of care and the best people come to learn, work and research.
UHNM has two sites: Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital. We provide a full range of general acute hospital services for people living in and around Staffordshire and beyond. The Trust also provides specialised services for 3 million people in a wider area, including neighbouring counties and North Wales.
Our specialised services include cancer diagnosis and treatment, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, renal and dialysis services, neonatal intensive care and paediatric intensive care. We are recognised for our particular expertise in trauma, respiratory conditions, spinal surgery, upper gastro-intestinal surgery, complex orthopaedic surgery, laparoscopic surgery and the management of liver conditions.
The Trust would consider a flexible working pattern to support a different work life balance.
