We are delighted to advertise a Consultant in Otorhinolaryngology with a special interest in Head & Neck Surgery to join a very dynamic and forward-looking Otorhinolaryngology department. The successful candidate of this post would join an already established Head & Neck Multidisciplinary team in providing care for the population of Hywel Dda University Health Board. By joining the team this post would ensure a sustainable service and increased expertise in a rewarding and challenging discipline. There is an opportunity for the successful candidate to influence service improvement through innovative technology and pathway reform whilst working as part of the Welsh Cancer Network and alongside our regional partners.
If successful, you would join a small team of passionate and impactful colleagues dedicated to their patients and service delivery.
Candidates should be a member of the Royal College of Surgeons (or equivalent) and have their CCT or be eligible for inclusion on specialist register.
The roles report directly to the Clinical Director & Acute General Manager/Clinical Team Lead within the Speciality with ultimate accountability to the Chief Executive.
Primary base at Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen with Outpatient clinics on peripheral sites.
To provide a service in Otorhinolaryngology with a specialist interest in Head & Neck alongside your consultant colleagues. Work within a multidisciplinary Head & Neck service across regional partners and the Wales Cancer Network.
Main duties include Direct Clinical Contact through Outpatient clinics, Ward rounds and Theatre activity. Administration and validation of patients with research and audit opportunities. Maintaining the appropriate clinical competence through registration and continuous professional development. Work closely with senior management colleagues and contribute to service improvement and departmental governance. Teaching and mentoring of junior staff within them is encouraged.
As a senior employee of the Health Board the post holder will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Health Board’s patients.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales.   • Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
