Description:
Are you ready to make a difference in mental health care? Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an innovative and passionate Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to lead our Community Mental Health Team in Mid Cornwall area.
This is more than just a role; it’s an opportunity to shape the future of mental health services in Cornwall. As we embark on an exciting journey of transformation, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing and implementing a new ‘core model’ of mental health care, emphasising a stronger interface with primary care.
In this dynamic community-based position, you’ll find the perfect balance of clinical responsibilities and the chance to influence service development. Whether you’re passionate about pioneering new ways of working, interested in teaching, or considering research, we encourage you to bring your vision to life with us.
We’re committed to supporting our team members and are open to discussing competitive recruitment and relocation packages to welcome the right candidate to Cornwall.
Step into a role where your leadership will be valued, your ideas welcomed, and your career can truly thrive.
Apply today and be part of a future-focused team dedicated to making a lasting impact on mental health services in Cornwall.
In this role, you will collaborate with fellow Consultant colleagues to provide comprehensive mental health services across the Carrick area, serving a district population of approximately 118,000. This area is covered by one Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) with two consultant psychiatrists.
You will provide coverage for surgeries located in Truro, Carnon Downs, Perranporth, St Agnes, and the Roseland peninsula, with outpatient clinics primarily held at Truro Health Park.
As a Consultant, you will offer clinical leadership within the team, focusing on the patients you personally engage with. Care coordination is not part of your responsibilities.
You will be supported by a full-time Specialty Doctor who works under your supervision. As trainee numbers increase, the role may also include overseeing a Doctor in Training. These trainees will primarily be involved in community-based activities but will also have on-call duties for inpatient services. You will serve as the Clinical Supervisor for both the Specialty Doctor and any trainees, with dedicated time allocated each week for supervision.
We are a dedicated NHS community and mental health provider based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, committed to enhancing the physical and mental health of our community. Our services range from community and hospital-based care to specialised support for individuals living with dementia or a learning disability.
At our core, we are a people-focused organisation because we believe that people matter. As a member of our team, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of both residents and visitors in this stunning region of the UK.
Our Trust is made up of over 4,000 skilled professionals, including doctors, nurses, therapists, and essential administrative and support staff. We deliver care directly in people’s homes, within community clinics, and from our 13 community hospitals. Our vision is clear: to have great people providing great care, making this a great place to work, and being a great partner in the community.
Cornwall is home to approximately 568,000 residents, with a third of the population receiving acute hospital services in Devon. This necessitates close collaboration with our partners across Devon. Additionally, during the summer and holiday seasons, our services extend to accommodate the many visitors who choose to explore and enjoy this beautiful area.
