Description:

Clinical Duties: The overall purpose of the job is to provide senior level clinical expertise to deliver safe and effective care primarily on the inpatient unit at Farleigh Hospice. This is achieved by: Offering senior level clinical leadership and support to the Farleigh Hospice Inpatient Unit team which includes the non-consultant members of the medical team as well as the wider MDT including RNs and HCAs. Undertaking twice weekly specialist palliative care ward rounds on the inpatient unit Leading and participating in the weekly inpatient unit MDT meetings Reviewing HRAS patients when clinical need dictates Contributing to the locally delivered education programme for generalist medical staff and allied healthcare professionals Undertaking community outpatients and domiciliary visits to support existing community consultants and locality teams as needed Non-clinical Duties: The appointee is the Medical Audit and Policy Lead for Farleigh Hospice Will be responsible for identifying, coordinating and participating in audit within the medical team Will attend the quarterly medicines management meetings and clinical quality meetings Will ensure that medical policies are updated regularly in line with best practice and available evidence- base On call Duties: To participate in a 1 in 5 non-resident, second on call rota for both weekends and weekdays. Advice is mainly given via telephone with remote access to our electronic patient record, but re-attendance at the hospice may be required: Telephone back up (and occasionally face to face support) for the junior medical team member providing first on call service to the inpatient unit Second on call support to the hospice based CNS on call Mon-Sun 8am until 8pm Second on call support to the hospital based CNS on call on the weekends 8am to 6pm First on call support for doctors only for both community and hospital settings 8pm to 8a
