JOB SUMMARY
The nurse practitioner prescribes psychotropic medications for all program clients. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for caring for patients and maintaining accurate and current patient records.
Location: San Diego
Type: 1099 Contract - No benefits - On Site
Hours: PT or FT

QUALIFICATIONS
- A master’s degree or Ph.D. from an accredited institution of Graduate Medical Education with approved Nurse Practitioner program.
- Board certified or Board eligible with Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
- Active DEA certificate to prescribe in the State of California.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite and EHR software.
- Ability to problem solve and react appropriately to emergency situations.
- Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team.

- Conducts psychiatric assessments and presents them at team and treatment planning meetings.
- Supervises the treatment team in the comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history.
- Collaborates with registered nurse in assessment of physical health, making appropriate referral to community physicians.
- Prescribes psychotropic medications and conducts regular assessments of therapeutic responses and side effects, providing patient education as needed.
- Provides on-site crisis assessment and is available for on call hours as needed or assigned.
- Responds appropriately to medical emergencies.
- Complies with formulary as mandated by County Medi-Cal guidelines; participates in Patient Assistance Program to ensure maximum cost-effectiveness.
- Initiates appropriate and timely interventions on an ongoing basis; provides crisis intervention as needed.
- Provides documentation per format requirements for individual client’s progress, describing behavior and treatment objectives and outcomes.
- Assumes an active part in treatment team, providing appropriate input to the treatment plan.
- Seeks guidance from agency Medical Director when necessary and implements recommendations and directives.
- Responds to and cooperates with inquiries and recommendations of Medication Monitoring Committee; makes corrections to documentation and adjustments to procedures as needed.
- Provides input as required during initial client intake and assessment.
- Comply with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPAA standards
