Description:

The post holder should have good background knowledge and skills in obstetrics and gynaecology in order to contribute to the provision of both Obstetric and Gynaecological services.
All consultants will take part in a 1 in 11 rota of labour ward cover in which one week is devoted solely to labour ward and emergency gynaecology cover with all other duties cancelled in that week. These sessions involve prospective cover and must be swapped if they fall during a week in which holiday is taken.
Each of the general antenatal clinics is shared between 2 or 3 Consultants and the special interest antenatal clinics are shared between 2 consultants in order to provide continuity of care during periods of absence for on call duties or leave.
The post holder is required to cover General gynaecology clinics. Menstrual disorder, assisted reproduction and adolescent gynae clinics are available to the post holder should they be able to demonstrate appropriate skills.
The theatre allocations are currently being reviewed for all consultants depending on demand and requirements for access.
In addition to personal CPD, it is anticipated that the appointee will use SPA time to support the clinical governance frame
