10PA CONSULTANT PAEDIATRIC SURGEON WITH SPECIAL INTEREST IN LOWER GI/ COLORECTAL SURGERY

Applications are invited for a full time substantive Consultant Paediatric Surgeon with a Special Interest in Lower GI/Colorectal Surgery to join the Paediatric Surgery team at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. This post will join the two existing surgeons with interests in colorectal surgery.
Applicants should possess, or be within six months of receiving, CCT (or equivalent) in Paediatric Surgery at the time of the appointment. It would be desirable for the candidate to be Fellowship trained in paediatric colorectal surgery or have an existing practice in colorectal paediatric surgery. The start date is negotiable but ideally the start date should be within 12 months of accepting the post.
On call duties are a 1 in 8 non-resident with prospective cover, shared with the existing General Paediatric Surgeons and Paediatric Urologists. The on-call rota is currently split Mon-Thurs and Fri-Sun.
The appointee, together with Consultant colleagues, will be responsible for providing a paediatric and neonatal surgical service for Sheffield and South Yorkshire including children with colorectal problems.
The new Consultant will take equal responsibility with existing Consultants for the proper functioning of the Paediatric Surgical Unit. They will take part in the training programme at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
