JOB TITLE: CONSULTANT PSYCHIATRIST - EXPERT WITNESS WORK

Location: Nationwide (UK)
Salary: £80 per hour – LAA guided hours: 15 hours for adult assessment + travel. 25 hours for child assessment + travel.
Travel costed at £28 per hour and 45p per mile.
Position Overview: We are actively seeking skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrists to join our team as expert witnesses. This role offers a unique and fulfilling opportunity to utilise your psychiatric expertise to support children and families involved in legal proceedings. As an expert witness, you will be essential in ensuring that judicial decisions are based on thorough, accurate, and expert psychiatric evaluations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualified Consultant Psychiatrist with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and in good standing.
  • Be on the Specialist Register OR be Section 12 Approved – Evidence of certification will be requested.
  • Extensive experience in psychiatric assessments with adults, adolescent or child assessments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex psychiatric information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Dedication to continuous professional development and staying updated with advancements in psychiatry and forensic psychiatry, where necessary.
  • Experience with providing assessment reports answering specific questions and providing clear recommendations and opinions.
