To bolster our efforts and continue to provide high quality, patient focussed services, we are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Mental Health Liaison Service (MHLS) (5PAs) and Memory Assessment and Management Service (MAMS) (5PAs), as part of our Older People and Frailty division. We are looking for a doctor who is passionate and committed to the development of old age psychiatry and who is able to support the teams in delivering compassionate, collaborative, high-quality services.
The role is full-time at 10PAs per week, with an additional PA as part of recruitment and retention. We are interested in hearing from anyone who is interested in a flexible working pattern, which would include job share and part time.
Attend relevant team meetings, support the MAPs with urgent clinical situations, undertake patient reviews as required, including completing formulations and risk assessments for these patients, be available for clinical discussions with team members about patients on the team caseload, hold follow up reviews of patients on the postholder’s case load.
Take a lead in the management of complex cases.
Provide clinical leadership to the team.
Support assessments of new patients and formulate treatment plans.
To use evidence-based treatment and follow local and national guidelines.
To use the Mental Health Act, as appropriate, within the course of their duties.
To work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary, multi-agency and partnership way.
To provide medical treatment within a model of multi-disciplinary care
Attending weekly clinical team meetings and performing medical duties that arise out of decisions made at that meeting.
Maintaining accurate and up to date clinical records in line with local protocols and procedures.
To be familiar and up to date with relevant mental health and capacity act legislation in relation to the care of older people.
Contribute to Quality Improvement and Audit to improve patient experience and promote best practice. The post holder will be encouraged to be involved in other management activities within the Older Adult and Frailty Division.
