Description:

To provide clinical leadership, consultation and supervision to psychological professionals working across the age range of learning disability services to ensure the provision of a high-quality therapy and positive behaviour support (PBS) service to people with learning disabilities and complex health needs. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for governance of psychological and therapeutic practice across learning disability services. To contribute to professional appraisals, identifying CPD needs across the learning disability services. To ensure systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision and support of psychologists and therapists working with people with learning disabilities, including those within mainstream mental health services.
To lead on psychology workforce planning and related recruitment and staff professional development activities within but not limited to Learning Disability services. To provide consultation with regard to working with people with learning disabilities across services. To lead on the development of psychological services and future business proposals through the senior leadership team, liaison with the ICB, social care, and/or external/internal stakeholders. Contribute to services at a national level e.g.
through Benchmarking projects and at local level through Learning disability and Autism development groups/service user groups. Responsible for the highly specialist psychological assessment and involvement in care-plans for clients with learning disabilities and highly complex health needs based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources. Responsible for recognising the potential for or signs of client harm, abuse or neglect, including poor clinical practice, reporting all such concerns and taking all reasonable steps to protect the client. Experience in Positive Behavioural Support and Trauma Informed Care, working with individuals who have high levels of risk and vulnerability and those with Learning Disabilities and Autism is essential.
The post-holder will hold a clinical caseload of the most complex clients. The post-holder will lead on relevant project work, special interest groups, service, and quality improvement initiatives.
