Description:
The highly regarded and forward-thinking radiology department at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking Radiologists in response to growing demand for our services. The role will involve exposure to general radiology with a share in the plain film reporting, ultrasound, general CT and MRI workload.
We are seeking 3 radiologists.
One will need an interest in GI imaging, in particular HPB, to be primarily based in Basingstoke.
The other 2 roles could accommodate radiologists with interests in nuclear medicine, GU imaging, neuro imaging or MSK imaging.
We are in an exciting transition phase for the department as we continue a 10-year, £40 million programme of equipment replacement and department refurbishment.
We are looking for 2 Consultant Radiologists interested in GI Radiology, particularly HPB and one of Nuclear Medicine, Neuroradiology, Genitourinary radiology or Musculoskeletal Radiology.
Successful candidates will a need to have experience in general radiology and undertake a share of the plain film reporting, ultrasound, CT and MRI workload. Successful candidates will be HHFT Consultants and may be asked to work at any of our sites (Basingstoke, Winchester or Andover). The precise details will be agreed in a job plan, and we are usually able to accommodate reasonable requests. You will be expected to participate in the diagnostic on-call rota on one of our acute sites (either Winchester or Basingstoke).
All Radiologists are very much encouraged to contribute to the running of the department. This is rewarded with SPA allocation that will be allocated according to the level of contribution. We have regular discrepancy (REALM) meetings, Consultant meetings and quarterly strategy meetings which are now largely online.
Across HHFT we currently have 5 static CT scanners and 3 static MRI scanners (details below). This includes a private imaging facility on the Basingstoke site (Candover Clinic) which is part of the NHS trust and offers general X-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI. Insignia PACS, CRIS and Talking point Voice Recognition are integrated across HHFT (PACS system undergoing replacement currently). Home-reporting workstations are provided for all Consultant Radiologists to facilitate the on-call service, flexible reporting and additional voluntary reporting (‘insourcing’).
The diagnostic on-call runs from 1700 – 2000 weekdays and 0900 – 2000 at the weekend, a separate rota for each site. An out of hours IR service is provided via a regional network with Frimley Health Foundation Trust.
The trust has recently committed to a multi-million pound programme of investment to refresh diagnostic imaging equipment over the next 10 years. The department has already benefited from a completely new fleet of Ultrasound machines, new X-ray rooms, and a new CT scanner. Two new MRI scanners are to be installed at the end of 2023.
