Description:

We are looking for a Consultant Scientific Director to lead on research and innovation within Cardiovascular Services, across the GM&EC Vascular Network and to provide expert vascular scientist leadership across the network.

Responsibilities:

  1. To provide leadership and professional guidance to a broad range of highly specialist clinical/scientific/technical services which can be complex, routine and non-routine, in the field of vascular science/clinical diagnostic services, across the network.
  2. Provide strategic direction and expert professional leadership across the group/network.
  3. Delivers specialist Consultant vascular scientist activities; provides expert advice, opinion and leadership to other professionals; may act as clinical scientific lead across the network.
  4. Provides primary source of expert vascular scientific advice, opinions, training/teaching/education to own and other professions in specialist area of activity with significant impact across the group/network.
  5. Initiates, leads/directs and develops research and innovation in specialist field with national/international impact across the group/network.
  6. To direct/lead and manage the introduction of new, improved and optimised methods, techniques and service improvements utilising best available evidence, national guidelines, results from research, development and internal audit across the group/network.
  7. To co-lead the services and resources of MAVRIC ensuring that services meet accreditation standards and are delivered in a timely manner, within budget by trained and competent staff with clear objectives. Ensure that resources are available as appropriate through service planning.
