Description:

ERM is seeking a hands-on Consulting Associate, Engineer or Geologist to join our consulting firm in Indianapolis, IN. The successful candidate will work on a variety of interesting site investigation and remediation projects at industrial project sites. This is a great opportunity to work with ERM’s technical experts to implement the latest investigation and remediation technologies, while building the required experience to obtain your professional registration.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s in civil, environmental or geological engineering, hydrogeology, or related environmental science discipline. Or the equivalency of 8+ years related experience in lieu of education.
  • Recent graduate to 3 years of experience, including commitment to complete multi-week, out-of-town field assignments.
  • Ability to work and problem solve independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Ability to succeed in fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, and maintaining flexibility, while meeting strict deadlines.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training a plus; but can be provided by ERM if a prospective candidate does not have the initial or refresher training.
  • Local candidates preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field work, including soil, sediment, ground water, and surface water sampling, aquifer testing, drilling oversight and soil logging, soil boring and monitoring well installation, well development, purging and sampling, and remedial systems operation and maintenance.
  • Coordinate and direct drilling, surveying, and laboratory services.
  • Provide construction oversight on environmental remediation projects, and operations and maintenance of environmental remediation systems.
  • Assist in data interpretation and preparation of site workplans, spreadsheets, figures, and technical reports.
  • Focus on team project delivery, taking direction primarily from Project Managers.
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
  • Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during field activities.
