Description:

ERM is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Consultant to join our team in Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver. The EHS Consultant is responsible for creating and maintaining Environment, health and safety documentation/records and advising on the EHS regulations. This is a great opportunity for someone with a couple of years of EHS experience, with a passion for safety to work with an expert consulting team committed to a strong health & safety culture.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an EHS role, with administrative capabilities
  • Previous experience with OH&S Policies and Programs, WCB/WSIB applications, is an asset
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills to complete deliverables within prescribed timeframes
  • Detail oriented and able to focus on completing detailed, repetitive tasks
  • Ability to communicate with remote colleagues through conference calls and web-based videoconferencing platforms
  • Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification would be an asset
  • Experience in provincial health and safety legislation (Ontario, BC, Alberta, Quebec, and Nova Scotia)
  • Bilingual French is an asset
  • May require limited travel.
    For the Consulting Associate, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $63,840 – $70,094 CAD. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above. This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.

Responsibilities:

  • Read, understand and follow our clients’ Corporate Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Programs, Policies and Procedures
  • Provide consultation services to management, supervisors, committees, faculty and employees on all aspects of OHS including, but not limited to guidelines, hazard identification, assessment, controls, and incident investigation. The consultant will proactively coach leaders and employees to instill an appreciation for and understanding of incident and accident reporting requirements, investigations and pertinent forms.
  • Develop, revise, update and maintain all policy and program documents for our clients’ corporate programs
  • Maintain all paperwork related to EHS audits; schedule audits as required
  • Investigate, or assist in the investigation of OHS issues/incidents. Development of action plans to address issues, maintain documentation, and report to OHS matters as required
  • Prepare, update, distribute and maintain health and safety related documentation as required for the assigned worksites
  • Assist our clients’ Supervisor/Manager or EHS Coordinator in maintaining EHS records for the worksite as necessary
  • Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings for the worksite, and act as secretary if necessary
  • Maintain third party procurement websites such as Avetta and ISN
  • Update, maintain, and present OHS related training to ensure a complete and effective understanding of potential risks and expected behaviors within the worksite with the goal to prevent or reduce incidents/accidents
  • Assist the clients’ EHS Coordinator and Division Head as required
  • Other responsibilities as required
  • Effectively steward and build client relationships leading to repeat business
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees
